Lesson Overview

What do you crave when you have a sweet tooth? In this lesson, students will discuss how reducing cravings will lead to a healthier lifestyle. This lesson features a video that talks about seven ways to control food cravings. Students will learn and practice phrases and collocations associated with eating and living healthily and vocabulary relating to this topic. The lesson includes plenty of engaging discussion activities and worksheets that have been developed for adult and teenage learners.

Lesson Objectives



  • Grammar: Students will learn and practice using phrases and collocations related to health and eating habits. They will focus on structures that help them discuss lifestyle changes effectively, such as "cut down on," "sip on," and "curb your appetite."




  • Listening: Students will enhance their listening skills by engaging with a video that discusses various methods to manage and reduce cravings. They will listen for specific tips and the rationale behind each method to better understand health advice.




  • Speaking: Through discussion activities, students will express their thoughts on different ways to manage cravings and incorporate healthy habits. They will practice explaining and advocating for particular health strategies in group discussions and role-plays.




  • Vocabulary: The lesson will introduce vocabulary associated with managing eating habits and cravings, such as "binge eating," "appetite suppressant," and "sedentary lifestyle." Students will use these terms to discuss and analyze health behaviors.




  • Cultural Awareness: Students will explore cultural differences in dietary habits and perceptions of health. Discussions will include how different cultures handle cravings and the global impact of dietary choices on health.




  • Homework: Students will engage with exercises that reinforce the vocabulary and concepts discussed during the lesson. Tasks will include filling in blanks with correct words, matching sentence beginnings and endings related to health advice, and unscrambling letters to complete sentences about healthy lifestyles.
