Do you have a squeaky-clean workspace? In this lesson, students will learn about the positive outcomes that result from having a clean desk and why it is important. This lesson includes plenty of engaging discussion activities and worksheets describing the different things you should and should not have on your desk. Students learn vocabulary and common idioms relating to this topic. The lesson activities have been developed for adult and teenage learners.

Lesson Objectives

  • Speaking: Students will engage in discussions about their personal workspace habits and the implications of a clean versus cluttered desk. They will use phrases like "tidy desk, tidy mind" and explore the cultural perceptions of cleanliness.

  • Vocabulary: Essential terms such as "clutter," "organize," "clean freak," and "pigsty" will be introduced. Students will learn to use these words in context to describe various states of tidiness and personal organization.
