Lesson Overview

It’s time to get the house in order! In this lesson, students will learn about daily activities and common household chores. The lesson features audio of people describing their day. Students will learn and practice the present perfect tense and expand their vocabulary related to this topic. The lesson includes plenty of engaging discussion activities and worksheets developed for both adults and teenagers, ensuring a fun and interactive learning experience.

Lesson Objectives

  • Grammar: Students will learn and practice the present perfect tense to talk about actions and experiences that have occurred at an unspecified time before now. They will focus on forming affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences using "have/has" plus the past participle of verbs.

  • Listening: They will improve their listening skills by hearing people describe their daily activities and accomplishments using the present perfect tense. This exercise aims to enhance comprehension of spoken English, focusing on the usage of the present perfect to describe recent and past actions.

  • Speaking: Students will engage in discussions about their daily activities, household chores, and personal accomplishments, using the present perfect tense. They will share what they have done recently, what they haven't done yet, and discuss plans and ambitions.

  • Vocabulary: The lesson introduces vocabulary related to daily activities and household chores, such as "water the lawn," "fix the garage door," "clean the fence," and "repair the roof." It also covers expressions related to accomplishments and routine tasks.

  • Homework: Homework tasks are designed to reinforce the lesson's focus on the present perfect tense and vocabulary. Students will write correct words to complete sentences about household items, fill in missing letters to complete verbs related to household activities, use the present perfect tense to complete sentences about recent activities, unscramble words to create questions and answer them, and talk about something exciting they have done using the present perfect tense.
