Lesson Overview

This 1st English class introduces students to the most essential phrases needed to start speaking from day one. Learners practice simple greetings, basic questions, and short responses used in everyday English conversations.

The lesson focuses on real-life communication: how to say hello, how to introduce yourself, how to ask “How are you?”, and how to say goodbye naturally. Students learn useful expressions for school, work, and daily interactions, making this the perfect first English lesson for adults and teens.

This beginner-friendly class is ideal for learners taking their first step in English or starting an A0–A1 ESL course. Teachers can use it as a ready-made Class 1 English lesson to build students’ confidence and speaking skills from the very beginning.

Lesson Objectives

  • Vocabulary: Students will learn and practice common greetings and goodbye phrases used in everyday situations. They’ll understand when to say “Hello,” “Hi,” “Good morning,” “Good night,” and “See you,” and use them correctly when meeting or leaving people.

  • Grammar: Students will review basic sentence patterns used in greetings and introductions, such as “How are you?” and “I’m fine, thanks.” They’ll learn how to respond naturally to simple questions and statements.

  • Speaking: Learners will practice short dialogues to greet people and say goodbye in different situations — at school, at work, on the phone, and with friends. They’ll build confidence speaking English in real-life conversations.

  • Listening: Students will listen and repeat common greeting expressions to improve pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation. They’ll recognize familiar phrases when hearing them in simple dialogues.

  • Homework: Homework tasks will help students remember new words and phrases. They will match greetings and farewells, complete short dialogues, and write basic exchanges using “hello” and “goodbye.”
