Lesson Overview

What’s your name?  In this lesson, students learn how to introduce themselves and ask about others. They practice saying their names and asking simple questions using the verb “to be” in positive, negative, and question forms. Students also learn the question words “What” and “Where” to talk about names and countries. Through vocabulary practice, grammar tasks, and short dialogues, learners build confidence speaking English in real conversations. The lesson ends with a fun role-play where students introduce themselves and others naturally.

Lesson Objectives

  • Vocabulary: Students will learn and practice names of common countries and useful words for introductions, such as name, country, and from. They’ll understand how to use these words to talk about themselves and others in short exchanges.

  • Grammar: Students will review and practice the verb “to be” (am, is, are) in positive, negative, and question forms. They’ll also learn how to form simple questions using “What” and “Where.”

  • Speaking: Learners will practice asking and answering questions about names and countries in pairs and small groups. They’ll build confidence introducing themselves and others using natural English expressions.

  • Listening: Students will listen and repeat short dialogues to recognize correct pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation in introductions. They’ll identify familiar question patterns and responses in simple listening exercises.

  • Homework: Homework activities will help students remember the verb “to be” and question words. Tasks include matching names and countries, completing short dialogues, and writing simple introductions using I am, You are, and Where are you from?
