レッスンの概要

Mix things up! In this lesson, students will discuss how past actions influence present situations and how present conditions could have shaped past events using mixed conditionals. Students will practice using mixed conditionals through grammar tasks, speaking questions, and error correction activities based on real-life situations. Students will also learn and practice new vocabulary and idioms relating to decision-making, hypothetical situations, and consequences, with clear real-life examples. The lesson provides various interactive exercises and stimulating questions suited for students of upper-intermediate and advanced levels.

レッスンの目標

  • Grammar: Students will explore mixed conditionals, focusing on the difference between third, second, and second–third conditional structures. They will complete exercises such as sentence transformations, grammar gap-fills, and error correction, helping them use mixed conditionals correctly and confidently in real-life contexts.

  • Speaking: Students will take part in guided discussions about personal experiences, life-changing decisions, and “what if” scenarios. These conversations give students the chance to use new grammar and vocabulary to talk about how things could have been different or might change in the future.

  • Vocabulary: Students will work with words and idioms related to decision-making, regret, and personal development, such as "hypothetical," "ambitious," "networking," "spontaneous," "disciplined," and "financially secure." They will also practice idiomatic expressions like "missed the boat," "living under a rock," and "head above water."

  • Homework: Homework includes activities such as filling in the blanks, transforming conditional sentences, and “would you rather” discussion prompts. These tasks are designed to review the vocabulary and grammar from the lesson and to strengthen students’ understanding of cause and effect and hypothetical situations in English.
